Dear Parents and Guardians,

 

Teachers in the ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS & READING DEPARTMENT at Ruben Dario Middle Community School work collaboratively to ensure your child receives an outstanding education. We utilize dynamic literacy programs that present interactive learning experiences through engaging readings, meaningful activities, and purposeful performance tasks. 

 

The Language Arts classes use "myPerspectives by Savvas," a curriculum that values the perspective of the learner, collectively and individually, and provides learning experiences that promote higher achievement to help students develop the competencies needed for college and career readiness. The program also encourages social collaboration as well as student ownership of learning through goal setting, choice, and reflection.

 

In Intensive Reading classes, students use the "READ 180 by HMH" program, which is a blended learning intervention program that helps in building reading comprehension, academic vocabulary, and writing skills. This reading program pairs powerful adaptive technology with teacher-led instruction, designed to provide personalized, purposeful instruction to accelerate reading success.
