ESOL Department Goals and Objectives
Goals
The goals for the ESOL department are:
- To produce students capable of communicating orally and in written form proficiently for academic purposes in English.
- For ESOL teachers to implement the Continuous Improvement Model to engage ESOL students in systematic explicit instruction.
- To include all four components of second language acquisition into the ESOL instruction which are: listening, speaking, reading and writing including whole group, small group differentiated instruction, and independent practice.
Technology will be infused throughout the ESOL curriculum.
Objectives
1. ESOL teachers will show evidence of a 2% overall performance increase in district exams.
2. ESOL teachers will show evidence of progress monitoring and data-driven decisions based on the CELLA Baseline and Interim assessments to meet students’ individual needs.
